Spring Branch ISD Elementary Teacher of the Year Teresa Dolan, a school librarian, is one of the five teacher finalists for Region. She competed against 50 school districts.

Following a tenure of more than 12 years, Nan Ellis is retiring from TLA, effective August 31, 2016. In 2014, she became TLA's full time coordinator of accounting services after previously working with both accounting and event registration services. Always known for her accurate, prompt, and cheerful assistance, she will be missed; but watch for her at future conferences!

While a national search is being conducted for a new executive director, Stephanie Fulton will serve as interim executive director of the Houston Academy of Medicine – Texas Medical Center Library (The TMC Library). Fulton will continue to serve as executive director of the MD Anderson Library while the interim leader of the TMC Library.

Alia Gant the 2015-16 TLA/ALA Spectrum Scholar, who will join Penn State University Libraries as a diversity resident librarian in August 2016 as a member of the second cohort of the University Libraries Diversity Residency Program.

Susi Grissom was selected as Dallas Librarian of the Year (Dallas ISD).

Judi Moreillon has retired from the School of Library and Information Studies, Texas Woman's University in Denton and is moving to Tucson, Arizona. Her new book, Building a Culture of Collaboration: School Librarian Leadership and Advocacy, will be published in the spring of 2017.

After 40 years of employment at the Harris County Public Library, Elaine S. Plotkin retired from her position as Collection Development Manager on July 31, 2016. She looks forward to continuing her involvement in TLA and in the Retired Librarians Round Table.

Susan Sears is the new Dean of Libraries at Texas Woman's University.

Sara Stevenson, librarian at O. Henry Middle School in Austin ISD, was recently added as a new member of the AASL Knowledge Quest blog team.

Angelica “Angie" Reeve died on July 10, 2016. She had been a librarian and archivist at Austin High School (Austin ISD) for 19 years.

Kate Wiant, a librarian at Texas Wesleyan University, died on August 14. She contributed a wonderful illustration to TLA's forthcoming Disaster Relief Coloring Book and was scheduled to be a presenter at the LIRT conference.
