Book Cart Competition: Thursday, April 21, 5:30 - 6:30 pm
Calling all you book cart fans out there: It's time to spruce up your ride, don unique bibliographic garb, and rev up your engines for our Annual Book Cart Drill Team Competition. You do not have to be registered for conference to participate! Trophies will be awarded for first, second, and third place. Grab a posse of your library cohorts and enter this spirited competition that shows librarians can make even a BOOK CART tell a story! Entry forms are available online. TLA thanks Demco for its continued support of the event. For full details, visit: http://www.txla.org/bookcart

Poster Session: TLA members open minds by presenting your innovative ideas in the form of poster sessions. We are looking for your stories and accomplishments as they relate to all aspects of libraries and librarianship. If you or your institution have launched a new program or been very successful in an ongoing program, share that experience with your colleagues. The deadline for submissions is January 18, 2016. For additional information, visit: http://www.txla.org/poster-session-proposals.

New Pop Up Presentations
Are you looking for new ideas, new voices, and new experiences at conference? At TLA 2016, the contributed papers sessions have been replaced by new pop up presentations! Pop up presentations are 20 minute sessions that engage the audience and feature new or innovative ideas. Pop up presentations provide a showcase for valuable hot topics.

Pop up presentations will feature the most current information on:
  • All Things Tech -- tech-related projects, ideas, and issues
  • Beyond Storytime -- innovative children's programming
  • Leading a Library -- library management
  • Outside the Box -- non-traditional libraries, collections, or services
  • Beyond the Stacks -- wellness and work-life balance
  • New & Noteworthy -- the latest and greatest from around libraryland!
Proposals for pop up presentations will be accepted from January 19, 2016 until February 26, 2016. Watch for more information and a call for proposals coming in January!

Warning about Making Conference Hotel Reservations

We have received reports that other companies are posing as official travel vendors. OnPeak is the only official hotel partner associated with the Texas Library Association Annual Conference 2016. While other hotel re-sellers may contact you offering housing options for your trip, they are not endorsed by or affiliated with the Texas Library Association and entering into financial agreements with such companies can have costly consequences. They may require that rooms be fully prepaid; that charges are non-refundable and/or be subject to steep change fees; and room types may not be guaranteed.

Please be aware of these unaffiliated solicitors and don't become victim to their scams. In the past these kind of scams have left individuals stranded without hotel rooms and transportation, resulting in lost deposits. View the official reservation site for the Texas Library Associate Annual Conference 2016 to secure your worry-free reservation with onPeak. Please note that when calling onPeak, the agents will always immediately identify the company name.
