TLA Inaugurates New Executive Leadership Institute

The Texas Library Association is proud to announce Executive Leadership Immersion, an exceptional new program designed to prepare current and aspiring administrators to excel in high-level leadership and senior administration.

Aimed at experienced professionals who are positioning for top administrative and leadership roles, Executive Leadership Immersion will provide a career-making opportunity.

Nationally-recognized educator Julie Todaro and a team of expert leaders (brought together in discussion panels) offer a dynamic curriculum and an executive experience guaranteeing energizing, concrete, and focused training on the skills and aptitudes needed to lead today's complex organizations. The curriculum will focus on evolving competencies, transforming organizational culture, vision and planning, interpersonal effectiveness, assessment, increasing institution visibility, and more.

The inaugural class will take place July 31 – August 4, 2016 at the Omni Barton Creek in Austin. Texas Bluebonnet Award

The children of Texas have spoken: When the Beat Was Born: DJ Kool Herc and the Creation of Hip Hop is this year's winner of the Texas Bluebonnet Award. Laban Carrick Hill and Theodore Taylor III will accept their award from student representatives during the TLA Annual Conference. The book's creators will then share insights on their work.

Coming soon to a Texas Library Everywhere

TLA will unveil a new marketing campaign for Texas libraries. The TLA PR & Marketing Committee was charged with the task of creating a big campaign to raise awareness about Texas libraries and the library profession in general. The campaign is designed to have wide appeal to all types of libraries and to support an internal and external rebranding.

The Texas Library Association election is open through March 18, 2016, 11:59 pm Central Time, USA, for the TLA Executive Board and participating units with contested slates. All current 2016 TLA members were emailed instructions for participating.

Please take the opportunity to cast your vote in this elections process. TLA uses an unbiased third-party election company, SBS, to conduct its elections. To preserve voting integrity, TLA does not know which members have or have not voted, nor how they cast their ballot. Therefore, all TLA members who are eligible to vote are receiving this email.

If you have already casted your vote, we'd like to thank you for participating in selecting TLA's leadership.
