VIDEO SUBMISSION TERMS
Catching Fire International Trailer Video Submission Program (“Program”) is offered by Scholastic Inc. (“Scholastic”). By submitting a video, you (and, if an eligible minor, your parent or legal guardian) agree to abide by these Submission Terms and decisions of Scholastic and its designees, which shall be final and binding in all respects relating to this Program.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE: You must be at least 13 years of age and a legal resident of the fifty (50) United States or the District of Columbia. If you are a member of a professional performance guild (e.g., SAG, AFTRA), you are not eligible to participate. Program is void where prohibited by law and subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws. An eligible minor should have a parent’s or legal guardian’s permission to submit a video.
HOW TO SUBMIT A VIDEO: You can submit a video in two ways:
Submit a video response via YouTube in the comments section on www.youtube.com/OfficialTHGBooks OR submit a video via email attachment to email@example.com. In your video, tell us your first name and the State where you're from (NOTE: State only, no city or street address). Then, complete all of the following sentences:

Deadline to submit videos: May 24th, 11:59pm, EST.
Video should not exceed fifteen (15) minutes, must be submitted in .MOV, .MPEG4, .AVI, .WMV, .MPEGPS, .FLV, 3GPP, or WebM format, and should not exceed two (2) GB in size. Scholastic reserves the right to allow for minor fluctuations between the submission length limitation stated herein and the actual length of a video, as well as other minor deviations, based on clear intent to comply with these Submission Terms, as determined by Scholastic in its sole discretion. Videos should not include any other individuals or any music. In addition, videos may not contain any of the following Prohibited Content.
PROHIBITED CONTENT: Videos may not contain, as determined by the Scholastic, in its sole discretion, any content that:
- is sexually explicit or suggestive; unnecessarily violent or derogatory of any ethnic, racial, gender, religious, professional or age group;
- profane or pornographic; contains nudity;
- promotes alcohol, illegal drugs, tobacco, firearms/weapons (or the use of any of the foregoing); promotes any activities that may appear unsafe or dangerous; promotes any particular political agenda or message;
- is obscene or offensive; endorses any form of hate or hate group;
- appears to duplicate any other submitted video;
- defames, misrepresents or contains disparaging remarks about Scholastic, its products or services, other people or companies;
- contains trademarks, logos, or trade dress (such as distinctive packaging or building exteriors/interiors) owned by others, without permission, to the extent permission is necessary;
- contains copyrighted materials owned by others (including music, photographs, sculptures, paintings, and other works of art or images published on or in websites, television, movies or other media), other than The Hunger Games, without permission, to the extent permission is necessary;
- contains materials embodying the names, likenesses, voices, or other indicia identifying any person (living or dead), such as license plate numbers, personal names, e-mail addresses or street addresses, including, without limitation, celebrities and/or other public or private figures, living or dead, without permission, to the extent permission is necessary;
- communicates messages or images inconsistent with the positive images and/or good will with which Scholastic wishes to associate; and/or
Video must be your original work, may not have been previously published, may not have won previous awards, and must not infringe upon the copyrights, trademarks, rights of privacy, publicity or other intellectual property or other rights of any person or entity. By submitting a video, you (and, if an eligible minor, your parent or legal guardian) hereby grant permission for the video to be posted on Scholastic’s page on YouTube, other social media pages and/or other Scholastic websites and otherwise used in accordance with rights granted below.
In the event Scholastic selects one or more videos for use in the trailer, such individuals will be notified via email and/or their YouTube accounts (as applicable) and required to execute and return a Grant of Rights/Liability Release within a time period to be specified by Scholastic. If any such individual is an eligible minor, his parent/legal guardian must execute all required documents on his/her behalf. Failure to comply with all of Scholastic’s instructions will result in the video not being used.
Making a submission as part of this Program does not guarantee that your video will be used in the trailer. All videos will be selected by Scholastic in its sole and absolute discretion. If Scholastic selects your video for use as part of the trailer, Scholastic may decide to only use part or portions of your video. The final trailer will be at Scholastic’s sole discretion and there is no guarantee that all videos initially selected by Scholastic to appear in the trailer will ultimately be included in the final version of the trailer. Scholastic may also choose to create several versions of the trailer and there is no guarantee that any video selected for use will be used in every version of the trailer.
GRANT OF RIGHTS TO VIDEO: By submitting a video, you (and, if an eligible minor, your parent or legal guardian) agree and hereby grant to Scholastic and its designees, successors, licensees and assigns an unlimited, nonexclusive, perpetual, irrevocable, assignable, royalty-free, fully paid-up license to reproduce, distribute, create derivative works of, edit, alter, display, exhibit, combine with other materials, exploit and otherwise use the video, and all elements embodied therein, and to use your name, likeness and performance as contained in the video, in whole or in part, in any manner and in any and all media now known or hereafter devised (including on Scholastic’s website and social media pages) throughout the universe for any purpose whatsoever, including, without limitation, for commercial purposes, without compensation or notification to, or permission from, you or any third party and to execute specific consent to such use if asked to do so. You agree that Released Parties (as defined below) are not responsible for any unauthorized use of video by third parties. Released Parties do not guarantee use of any video.
GENERAL CONDITIONS: By submitting video, you (and, if an eligible minor, your parent or legal guardian) agree (a) to release, discharge, hold harmless and indemnify Scholastic, its parent, affiliates, subsidiaries, and advertising and promotion agencies, and the respective officers, directors, shareholders, employees, agents and representatives of the forgoing (collectively, “Released Parties”) from any and all injuries, liability, losses and damages of any kind (including, without limitation, arising from claims based upon invasion of privacy, defamation, or right of publicity) to persons, including death, or property resulting, in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from your participation in the Program (including, without limitation, if your video is used in the trailer) and/or the use of any video in any manner by Scholastic or any other Released Party; and (b) to the use by Scholastic and its designees of your name, city and state of residence, image and/or likeness for advertising, publicity, promotional and trade purposes in any and all media, now or hereafter known, in any manner, worldwide in perpetuity, without compensation (unless prohibited by law) or additional consents from you or any third party and without prior notice, approval or inspection, and to execute specific consent to such use if asked to do so.
Released Parties are not responsible for lost, late, incomplete, damaged, inaccurate, stolen, delayed, misdirected, undelivered or garbled videos or emails; or for lost, interrupted or unavailable network, server, Internet Service Provider (ISP), website, or other connections, availability or accessibility or miscommunications or failed computer, satellite, telephone or cable transmissions, lines, or technical failure or jumbled, scrambled, delayed, or misdirected transmissions or computer hardware or software malfunctions, failures or difficulties, or other errors or difficulties of any kind whether human, mechanical, electronic, computer, network, typographical, printing or otherwise relating to or in connection with the Program, including, without limitation, errors or difficulties which may occur in connection with the administration of the Program, the operation of the Program or in any Program-related materials. Released Parties are also not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by site users, tampering, hacking, or by any equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Program. Released Parties are not responsible for injury or damage to any person's computer related to or resulting from participating in this Program or downloading materials from or use of the website. Persons who tamper with or abuse any aspect of the Program or website, who act in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner or who are in violation of these Submission Terms, as solely determined by Scholastic, will be disqualified. Scholastic reserves the right at its sole discretion to suspend, modify or terminate the Program at any time and for any reason. CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE THE WEBSITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE PROGRAM MAY BE IN VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, SCHOLASTIC RESERVES ALL OF ITS RIGHTS AND REMEDIES.
