The History

As Manhattan Real Estate began to grow at the turn of the 20th century, 31 Union Square West was designed by world renowned Architect Bruce Price. This early skyscraper shows the influence of the American Renaissance and sensibility celebrated at the Chicago World's Fair of 1893. It was built in 1902-03 as the Bank of the Metropolis. The board of directors of the Bank included the founder of Tiffany's, Steinway the piano maker, Sloane of Sloane's, and Arnold of Arnold Constable, other local businessmen. 31 Union Square West was given landmark status in 1988.

The Building

31 Union Square West has been magnificently converted into luxury residential lofts and apartments. As you enter through a quaint, exquisitely appointed marble lobby, you will feel as though you have taken a step back in time. With open vistas of Chelsea, The Flatiron district, and direct Union Square views, there is truly not a single “bad seat” in the house.

Our Amenities include a Full-time doorman, live-in super and laundry in the building, all available for your convenience.
